Why Comfort Is Overrated....🥶

Weekly Check In

Wednesday November 13th

Hey Reader! Hope you are having a good week.

The weather is starting to really change around here. The mornings are frosty, and the air has that familiar chill in it. Winter is coming....

I used to hate the cold which is strange given that I have lived in Wisconsin most of my life. As I have gotten older, I have grown to enjoy the cooler weather. I have chosen to embrace it rather than complain or dread it. We are our own worst enemies.

It is all about the story you tell yourself.

I cold plunge every morning. Our tub is outside and the temperature this morning was 30 degrees. Brrrr!

That got me thinking about comfort and how sometimes being comfortable holds us back from trying new things. I really hate getting into that cold tub in the morning, especially when it is cold outside. But I do it and then end result is worth it.

I would encourage you to get out of your comfort zone once in a while. Try a new activity, go for a walk in the rain, or take off your clothes and jump in a 40-degree tub!

Things I 'm Enjoying

Creatine

I am not big on supplements and believe that you should try to get most of your nutrition from real food. Creatine is something that I have been taking for the past year and its benefits are vast. From muscle building to cognitive benefits, I believe every woman over 40 should be taking this.

What I'm reading

I have been reading this book each morning before I mediate. This book is all about manifesting. I have read a few books about manifesting, and this is by far the best. I especially like the meditations and journaling activities he has along with a 6-step plan at the end of the book. Highly recommend! 👍👍

Are you a woman in menopause struggling to build muscle and stay strong on a vegan diet?

You’re not alone. Menopause brings hormonal changes that can make it harder to build muscle and stay energized, and a vegan diet may feel like an extra challenge. But it doesn’t have to be that way! You can thrive, build strength, and feel empowered on your plant-based journey – and I’m here to show you how.

Introducing: The 90-Day Vegan Muscle & Strength Program for Menopausal Women

A step-by-step program designed specifically for women 45+ who want to build muscle, increase strength, and boost their energy – all while following a nourishing vegan diet.

Weekly Check In Wednesday June 4th Hey Reader! Let’s talk about a test that most women in their 40s and 50s aren’t getting—but absolutely should. 👉 It’s called a DEXA scan, and it measures your bone density, muscle mass, and fat distribution—aka your midlife health blueprint. When I worked as a physician assistant in primary care a Dexa scan was only covered for the following patients: Women over 65 Those with a diagnosis of osteopenia or osteoporosis Women were postmenopausal and with risk...

Weekly Check In Wednesday May 7th Hey Reader! I am a morning person. I pretty much have always been this way. I love everything about it - coffee, sunrises, fresh air, exercise and of course breakfast. If I had to only eat one meal per day, I would choose breakfast. Hand's down. I am a creature of habit and during the week, my breakfast is pretty much the same. I eat the same thing each morning for several reasons: It tastes great, keeps me full for hours, and requires little effort and...

Weekly Check In Wednesday March 12th Hey Reader! I hope your week is going great! I used to do fasted workouts. It wasn't until I heard a podcast with Dr. Stacy Sims that I learned fasted exercise is not good for women, especially women over 40. Did you know that most of the research done on fasting is done on men? It was a good reminder that just because a research study says something is "good" or "healthy" we need to take a closer look at the study. So, I took her advice and started eating...
